OREM—Utah Valley University men's golfer Colby Hutchens won the Carolinian Amateur Championship over the weekend, firing a three-round 9-under-par 207 (72-68-67) to claim the title at Keith Hills Golf Club in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
The Pinehurst, North Carolina native closed the tournament in impressive fashion with a final-round 67 to finish two shots clear of the field and secure the championship. He was one of only three players in the tournament to finish 6-under-par or better.
The title comes on the heels of a strong freshman campaign at Utah Valley, where Hutchens competed in 11 tournaments for the Wolverines and posted a 73.2 adjusted scoring average over 33 rounds during the 2025-26 season.
Hutchens recorded a pair of top-10 finishes during the 2025-26 season, highlighted by a tie for third place at the Nassau Intercollegiate in the fall and a tie for sixth place at the 2026 WAC Men's Golf Championship to conclude the season.
He also added top-20 performances at both the Wyoming Cowboy Classic and the Oregon State Invitational during his freshman campaign.
