James Warnick has worked in the sports information office at Utah Valley University since 2006. During his time at UVU, he’s worked his way up from a student intern to his current position as an assistant sports information director.
He currently handles the day-to-day media relations efforts for Wolverine baseball, wrestling, cross country, and women’s golf. Warnick has also previously been the SID for women’s basketball, softball, volleyball, and track & field. He has also assisted with men's basketball and men's and women's soccer.
During his time at UVU, Warnick has also served as the play-by-play broadcaster for baseball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball and can still be heard from time-to-time filling in behind the mic for the Wolverines.
He also previously served as the Director of Media Relations for the now defunct Western Wrestling Conference, from 2010-2015, and has traveled to and worked at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in each of the past seven seasons.
Warnick received his bachelor’s degree in communication (journalism emphasis) from Utah Valley in 2008. During his undergrad, he served as a sports writer for The College Times (now UVU Review), as well as a sports and news anchor for the student-ran news broadcast, UVX News.
A member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and a graduate of the Sportscaster Camp of America, Warnick grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah, where he attended Pleasant Grove High School and played baseball for the Vikings.
He and his wife, Lisa, have four children (Austin, Aubrey, Avery and Miles) and reside in Cedar Hills.
