SOPHOMORE ~ (2011): (INDOOR) Recorded four Top 10 finishes in the throws: Shot put (6th, 50[apos]-8) at the Snake River Open; Discus (6th, 134[apos]-9, weight throw (5th, 43[apos]-1.75[quote]) and shot put (5th, 50[apos]-3.5) at BYU Invitational...Finished 7th and 10th, respectively, at the Great West Conference Indoor Championships in the discus (146[apos]-1) and the shot put (45[apos]-5). (OUTDOOR): Redshirt.

FRESHMAN ~ (2010): (INDOOR) Redshirted the indoor season ... (OUTDOOR) placed seventh in the discus with at throw with 43.22m 141[apos]-09[quote] at the GWC Outdoor Championships in Yankton, S.D. and 10th in the shot put (13.86m or 45[apos]-05.75[quote]) as he helped his team repeat as conference champions ... was UVU[apos]s top performer in both the shot put (14.56m @ UNLV Classic) and discus (45.60m @ BYU Invitational) on the year.

Before Utah Valley:
Prepped at Hurricane High School ... lettered in track & field and qualified for State three years in a row ... a member of his 3A State track team in 2006 ... All-State in the shot put ... holds Hurricane High[apos]s shot put record of 56 feet ... also played basketball, baseball, and football in high school.

Personal:
Graduated from Hurricane High in 2006 with a 3.75 GPA ... was on the Honor Roll every year in high school as well as being the Student of the Year in Weightlifting ... loves to fly fish ... served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (2007-09) ... also recruited by SUU ... parents are Mark Best and Alice Torrey.
