LEWISTON, Idaho - The Gonzaga Bulldogs scored nine runs in the first three innings taking advantage of five Wolverine errors on their way to a 21-0 beating of UVSC during the second day of the Banana Belt Tournament on Friday.
Wolverine starter
Aaron Tash (0-2) took the loss but didn't get much help from his defense. Tash went five innings giving up eleven runs, but only four of them were earned due to UVSC miscues.
GU's Mike Rundle and Jeff Culpepper each had four RBIs in the game. All four of Culpepper's RBIs came on two homeruns to right-centerfield in the eighth inning. He came up with two runners on and hit a three run long ball, and later in the inning hit a solo shot.
GU starter Patrick Donovan took a no-hitter into the seventh inning against the Wolverines. UVSC's
Trent Perry broke it up with a single up the middle. Perry singled again in the ninth inning and was the only Wolverine hitter with more than one hit.
The Wolverines will try to refocus on Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 2:00 pm (MST). UVSC will play Pac-10 foe, Washington State in the first game and will take on host team, Lewis & Clark State at 5:00 pm (MST). The LCSC game can be heard through a live audio broadcast by going
