LEWISTON , Idaho - The Utah Valley State baseball team and its pitchers continued to find the going tough at the NCAA level losing twice, 17-2 and 7-0, during play in the Banana Belt Tournament in Lewiston , Idaho .
UVSC (1-6) lost its first game Saturday, 17-2, to Washington State of the PAC-10. The UVSC was even, 2-2, with the Washington State entering the Cougars half of the fifth inning. WSU exploded for 8 runs in the inning, added four more in the sixth, and three in the seventh to end this one early handing UVSC the 17-2 loss.
Against Lewis and Clark, the UVSC offense managed only three hits while being shutout. Meanwhile, the Warriors scored once in the first, three times in the second, and three more times in the fifth to hand the Wolverines the 7-0 defeat.
UVSC will try to change its fortunes Wednesday in Cedar City when the Wolverines play Central Michigan at 1 p.m.
