MESQUITE, Nevada - After finally beginning their season a day and half late, the Utah Valley State baseball team took the field in Mesquite, Nevada, losing 4-2 to Southern Utah.
Dan Bulow had both RBI for the Wolverines, while newcomer Nick Connor delivered three hits. Jed Jensen started the game on the hill and pitched 5 2/3 solid innings for Utah Valley State, striking out seven.
The fifth inning doomed the Wolverines as they committed three errors leading to two unearned T-Bird runs.
Utah Valley out-hit SUU 9-5, but the difference in errors (3-1) is ultimately what cost the Wolverines a chance at a win.
The series will resume tomorrow as the teams are scheduled to play a double header beginning at 2:00 p.m. MST on the same field in Mesquite.
