OREM, Utah - Utah Valley State won its third straight game on Saturday afternoon, outlasting Southern Utah 11-9 in the 1st game of a double header. The T-Birds took the 2nd game of the twin bill 12-7 to salvage a game during the four game series.

Dan Bulow hit a deep grand slam in the inning for his sixth home run of the year. Brad Hales also homered in the inning, his first of the season, that put Utah Valley up 8-4.

The T-Birds wouldn't go away though, scoring three times in the fourth and then bringing the go-ahead run to the plate before Brett Guerrero got Mike Platt to hit into a game ending double play. Guerrero earned his first save of the season, while Todd Bateman earned his first win of the season after coming on in relief.

Bulow's four RBI led the team, while Nick Connor went 3-4 and drove in two runs for Utah Valley State.

In the final game of the series, the T-Bird pitcher Jay Talbot held the Wolverines to just one hit in 4 2/3 innings of work as SUU held Utah Valley scoreless in the final five innings to pick up a 12-7 win.

Trent Perry was 3-5 in the game and hit his team high 7th home run of the season. Connor was 2-5 with three RBI, aa three coming off of a bases loaded double in the fourth as Utah Valley closed an 8-2 gap to 8-7 but could get no closer.
