OREM, Utah - Utah Valley Baseball will make the short trip to face BYU on Tuesday at Larry H. Miller Field at 6 p.m. The game can be heard live on WolverineGreen.com.
It will be the 16th game between the Wolverines (6-14) and Cougars (13-8) and the first for first-year head coach Eric Madsen. UVU is 4-11 all-time against BYU, but is winless in seven tries in Provo while 3-4 at home and 1-0 on a neutral field.
Junior Brock Sargent (1-3, 7.77) will get the start for Utah Valley while BYU is starting freshman Nathan Bunch (2-0, 4.50).
The Wolverines won the season series for the first time in 2008, winning 4-1 in Sacramento, losing 5-4 in Provo and then winning 12-4 in former coach Steve Gardner's final home game on May 5. UVU and BYU will also face off on April 27 at Brent Brown Ballpark in Orem.
Utah Valley ended a nine-game losing streak by holding off Saint Mary's, 7-6, on Saturday in a game played at Oregon State's Goss Stadium. Jace Brinkerhoff, who is batting .393, was 4-for-5 and earned the save on the mound after getting the last two outs.
Rickenbach, who led off for the first time in Saturday's win, reached base four times and upped his average to .304. Rickenbach leads UVU with 15 runs batted in.
After Tuesday's game, Utah Valley travels to Reno to face Nevada in a four-game series beginning Friday at 7 p.m. MT.
