OMAHA, Neb. – Jordan Schlehuber's go-ahead single in the seventh inning propelled Utah Valley University to a 2-1 win at Creighton on Saturday at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. The win earned a doubleheader split after Creighton won the first game 4-3.
Greyson Bogden had two hits to lead the Wolverines (4-14), who stranded nine runners on the day, but the Bluejays (8-7) left 13 men on base and were just 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position.
Marco Briones (1-0) picked up his first collegiate victory, striking out two in 1.1 innings of relief.
Jake Mayer also pitched 1.1 innings out of the bullpen and retired all four batters he faced including two via strikeout.
Braden Poole entered in the ninth and pitched around two walks before retiring Ryan Fitzgerald to end the game with the potential winning run at first and earned his first save.

Kade Andrus walking, stealing second and later scoring on a base hit by
Mark Krueger.

Kaden Schmitt kept Creighton off the board through the first five innings, before a single run in the sixth – on a base hit by Daniel Woodrow – tied the game at 1-1.
Utah Valley re-gained the lead in the seventh, making an error that allowed
Seth Rhineer to reach earlier in the frame come back to hurt. With two outs, Rhineer stole second and later scored the winning run on Schlehuber's base hit to right.
The Wolverines will try to earn a series split on Sunday in the series finale. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. CT/noon MT.
