OMAHA, Neb. -- A seven-run second inning by Creighton doomed Utah Valley University in an 11-3 loss in the finale of the four-game series. The loss gave the Bluejays three of four in the series at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.
Creighton (9-7) sent 10 hitters to the plate in the second inning and got a bases loaded, three-run double from Kevin Lamb and a two-run triple from Reagan Fowler, who was 4-for-5 on the day.
Mark Krueger had two hits to lead the Wolverines (4-15) including a two-run double in the top of the third in an attempt to spur a comeback, but the Bluejays answered those two with single runs in the third and fourth to take a 9-2 lead.
Patrick Wolfe (1-3) took the loss for Utah Valley while Rollie Lacy (2-0) got the win out of the bullpen for Creighton.
The series was the final non-conference weekend series of the season for the Wolverines, who will open WAC play next weekend at Seattle University. UVU plays a midweek contest at Utah on Tuesday at 6 p.m. MT in Salt Lake City.
