OMAHA, Neb. – Utah Valley University dropped the first game of a Saturday doubleheader, 4-3, to Creighton at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.
The Wolverines (3-14) trailed 2-0 in the seventh and scored three times but the Bluejays (8-6) got a pair of RBI doubles in the bottom of the seventh in winning their second straight in the four-game series.
In the three-run seventh for UVU, a handful of breaks aided in allowing the Wolverines to take the lead. Two walks, a two-out error, a wild pitch and a passed ball all preceded a go-ahead RBI single by
Zac Fuller, who had the only hit in the inning.
Creighton's runs in the seventh came when Reagan Fowler snuck an opposite field double into the left field corner, tying the game at 3-3. Ryan Fitzgerald doubled to right center two batters later, driving in what turned out to the be the winning run.
Logan Hold (1-1) took the loss for Utah Valley while Nick Highberger (1-0) was the winning pitcher. David Gerber pitched the final two innings and picked up his second save.

Jackson Cofer pitched 6.0 solid innings, allowing one earned run (two total) on three hits. He pitched through six walks and struck out three in the no decision.
The teams are playing game two of the Saturday doubleheader this afternoon.
