SALT LAKE CITY – Paul Estrada doubled twice and had a career-high four RBIs as Utah Valley University topped the University of Utah, 9-7, on Wednesday night at Smith's Ballpark. It's the fourth straight win for the Wolverines over their in-state foe. Â

Kade Poulsen went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. He drove home both runs on a triple during a four-run second inning for UVU (5-15) after the Utes (9-9) took a 3-0 lead after one. Estrada had an RBI double in the inning and
Trevor Peterson capped the scoring in the first with an RBI single to left. All four Utah Valley runs came with two outs.

"For us to come back after their first inning and bring momentum back into our dugout was something we haven't done this year. And for Ondrej (Sebek) to come back and pitch like he did after they scored in the first was great," said UVU head coach
Eric Madsen. "We had a lot of good at-bats with two strikes up and down the lineup. I'm really proud of the way the guys played tonight. We're looking forward to getting the conference season going this weekend."

The Wolverines added three in the sixth when Estrada cleared the bases with a three-run double.
Callahan Moltzan led off the inning with a walk,
Jake Atkinson doubled and Poulsen was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Estrada.

After Utah scored a single run in the bottom of the sixth, Atkinson got that run back with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh, scoring
Jackson Overlund.

The Utes plated three runs in the seventh with Kyle Hoffman tripling home a run and DaShawn Keirsey Jr. driving a run in on a double, making it an 8-7 game. The Wolverines got an insurance run in the eighth when Peterson doubled and later scored on a
Zac Willis single. Â

Sebek made his first career start for Utah Valley and after giving up three in the first, settled down to pitch three straight scoreless innings thereafter. He made way for
Jason Jourdan, who got his first win after pitching 2.0 innings in relief.
Patrick Wolfe picked up his fourth save after tossing a 1-2-3 ninth, retiring the side on just five pitches. Jacob Rebar (0-2) surrendered five runs in 5.0 innings and took the loss for Utah.

Peterson and
Jake Berry added two hits each for UVU while Atkinson had a pair of RBIs. Keirsey Jr was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI while Max. Schuman had a pair of RBIs for the Utes (9-9).

Utah Valley and Utah will meet one more time this season, on April 25 at Brent Brown Ballpark in Orem. The Wolverines now begin WAC play this Friday in a three-game series at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Friday's opener begins at 6 p.m. MT and will air live on the WAC Digital Network.
