OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University baseball team battled back from a 4-0 deficit with nine runs in four innings to secure a 9-7 win over Indiana State in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Brent Brown Ballpark.

With the win, Utah Valley split the four-game series against the Sycamores. The Wolverines improve to 3-8 overall. Indiana State falls to 5-6.

"I thought it was a really good win and we had a lot of guys do good things for us today in some tough conditions," said Utah Valley head coach
Eric Madsen. "I thought the entire club played well—the way the offense came back and put together some good at-bats and finding a way to score runs. We finally played a clean game with no errors which is a big deal."

Logan Hold picked up his first win of the season on the mound for the Wolverines. Hold gave up only two earned runs and two walks with three strikeouts.
Patrick Wolfe came into the game in the top of the ninth and gave up only one hit without allowing a run for his third save of the season.

Trevor Peterson led the Wolverines at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.
Trevor Howell went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run and a pair of walks.
Nick Simmons recorded a 2-for-4 performance at the plate with two RBI and a run.
Jackson Overlund and
Paul Estrada each recorded a hit and two runs. Â

Indiana State was first to get on the scoreboard as Clay Dungan reached on a walk before advancing to second on a J Zahn single to left field. Danny Camilo then walked to load the bases. Tony Rosselli then cleared the bases with a triple to give the Sycamores a 3-0 early lead.

The Sycamores got another run in the top of the third inning as Dungan hit a solo shot over the right field wall to give his team a 4-0 advantage after three innings of play.

Utah Valley responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning.
Zac Willis singled to center before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Willis then advanced to third on a balk while Overlund reached first on a base on balls. Another Sycamore balk sent Willis home for the score and Overlund to second.
Nick Simmons then single to left field to score Overlund from second to cut the Sycamore lead to a 4-2 advantage.

After Indiana State put up a run in the top of the fifth inning, Utah Valley tied things up in the bottom half of the inning. With runners on first and second base, Howell laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance
Paul Estrada to second and
Callahan Moltzan to third.
Trevor Peterson then singled up the middle to score both Estrada and Moltzan. Overlund doubled to center later in the inning to send Peterson home to tie the game, 5-5.

Simmons gave the Wolverines their first lead of the game as he opened the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run to put UVU ahead, 6-5.
Paul Estrada then singled on a bunt down the line before Howell homered to left field to give Utah Valley an 8-5 lead after six innings of play.

A Rosselli homer gave the Sycamores a run in the top of the seventh. UVU answered with a run of its own as
Skyler Davis singled to send Overlund across the plate to give the Wolverines a 9-6 lead.

Indiana State got a run back in the top of the eighth to cut the UVU lead to a 9-7 advantage. The Wolverines then held the Sycamores scoreless in the top of the ninth to secure the 9-7 victory.

Utah Valley now heads back out on the road for a four-game series at Washington State, March 9-12, in Pullman, Wash.
