Utah Valley wraps up non-conference play at Oklahoma, Alabama

UTAH VALLEY WRAPS UP NON-CONFERENCE PLAY AT OKLAHOMA, ALABAMA
Utah Valley will wrap up non-conference play on the road this week as the team travels to the Sooner State to take on Big 12 opponent Oklahoma on Thursday in Norman before heading to the Yellowhammer State to face SEC foe Alabama on Sunday in Tuscaloosa. Kickoff for Thursday's game at Oklahoma is set for 6 p.m. (MT), while Sunday's game at Alabama will kickoff at noon (MT).

Utah Valley enters Thursday night's match at Oklahoma fresh off a 3-0 shutout win over Boise State on Friday night at Clyde Field. The win is the second straight for the Wolverines who improve to 5-2-0 overall on the season. Heather Stainbrook scored the game winner and Sadie Brockbank recorded a brace with a pair of goals in the win over the Broncos. The UVU defense picked up its fourth shutout win of the year.

Brockbank and Stainbrook lead the Wolverines in scoring with four goals each. The pair are also tied for the team lead in points with 10 points apiece. Brockbank leads UVU with 22 shots, including a team-best 11 on frame. Nicole Ray also has a pair of goals, while Amber Tripp, Breanna Eves, Jenna Shepherd, Grace Beeston, and London Miller each have one goal. In all, eight Wolverines have scored a goal this season.

The UVU defense has recorded four shutout wins. The defense has allowed just seven goals through its seven games. Brooklyn Nielsen has led the Wolverines in the box with nine saves and holds a .563 save percentage. She holds a 0.98 goals allowed average in 643 minutes in goal.

Thursday night's match at Oklahoma will be broadcast live on Bally Sports Oklahoma. There will not be a stream available to watch the game. Sunday's match at Alabama will be broadcast live on the SEC Network+, which is available at ESPNplus.com.

ABOUT OKLAHOMA
Oklahoma enters Thursday's match with a 3-4-1 overall record. The team dropped a 2-1 decision at No. 7 Virginia. The team has dropped two straight with a 5-0 loss against NC State on Sept. 9 and the 2-1 setback at Virginia on Sept. 12. The team's last win was a 2-1 victory over Kansas City on Sept. 3. The Sooners have played three overtime matches this season, going 2-0-1 in those games. Senior forwards Bri Amos and Jazzy Richards lead the team with three goals apiece. Amos fronts the team with seven points as she also has one assist. Amos also leads the team with 20 shots, including a team-best 12 on frame. Redshirt senior keeper Nikki Panas has led the Sooners in the box with a 2-3-1 record. She has one shutout and has tallied 27 saves this season. She holds a 1.64 goals allowed average. As a team, Oklahoma is averaging 1.38 goals a game, while allowing opponents a 1.88 goals per game average.

SERIES HISTORY VS. OKLAHOMA, BIG 12
Utah Valley and Oklahoma will meet on the pitch for just the third time on Thursday night. The two teams have each won a game in the two-game series. Utah Valley took a 1-0 win over the Sooners in Norman on Aug. 28, 2016 in the series opener. Oklahoma then took a 1-0 win over UVU on Sept. 15, 2018 in Salt Lake City on the University of Utah campus. The game in 2018 was scheduled to be played in Orem, but heavy smoke from wildfires forced the game to Salt Lake where the air quality was better. UVU holds an all-time 2-1 record against teams from the Big 12.

ABOUT ALABAMA
Alabama enters the week with a 4-4-0 overall record. The team heads into the week fresh off a 2-0 win over UAB on Sept. 12. The win over UAB snapped a three-match skid dating back to a 1-0 loss to Samford on Sept. 2. Alabama holds a 4-2-0 record at home.  Two of Alabama's matches have gone to overtime this season with the team going 1-1-0 in those games. Graduate forward Ashlynn Serepca leads the team in scoring and points with three goals and seven points. Sophomore midfielder Kate Henderson, sophomore midfielder Felicia Knox, and freshman midfielder Leah Kunde each have two goals, while five other Alabama players each have one goal. Alabama has used two keepers this season with graduate keeper McKinley Crone leading the way with a 4-1-0 record, including a pair of shutouts. Crone has collected a team-best 16 saves and holds a 1.41 goals allowed average. As a team, Alabama averages 1.75 goals per match, while limiting opponents to a 1.63 goals per game average.

SERIES HISTORY VS. ALABAMA, SEC
Utah Valley and Alabama will meet on the pitch for the first time on Sunday. The game will mark just the third time that the Wolverines have faced a team from the Southeastern Conference. UVU played against Arkansas in the second round of last season's NCAA Tournament with the Razorbacks taking a 3-1 win on May 1, 2021 in Greenville, N.C. UVU also faced Texas A&M in 2017, taking a 1-0 loss in College Station.

BROCKBANK NAMED WAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Utah Valley's Sadie Brockbank has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for September 6-12. Brockbank, a junior forward from Holladay, Utah, led the WAC with three goals last week, helping the Wolverines to a pair of shutout wins over San Jose State and Boise State. Brockbank opened the week with a goal in UVU's 2-0 win over San Jose State. She then recorded a brace in UVU's 3-0 win over Boise State, handing the Broncos their first loss of the season.

UVU RANKED NO. 10 IN UNITED SOCCER COACHES TOP-10 PACIFIC REGION POLL
Utah Valley re-entered the United Soccer Coaches Association Pacific Regional Top-10 rankings this past week at No. 10. The Wolverines have been as high as No. 8 in the poll but then dropped out last week. The team is now back in the rankings after sweeping a pair of home matches last week over San Jose State and Boise State.
