OREM, Utah – Utah Valley baseball will host NCAA Division II member Colorado Mesa University on Oct. 14 at 1:05 p.m. at UCCU Ballpark. The scrimmage will feature three games that will be six innings in length.
"We are excited for the great competition this fall in Colorado Mesa. This program won more games than any Division II baseball team from 2010-2019, and for 30 years of Coach Hanks' tenure, they have perennially been a top Division II program in the country. I have no doubt they could enter the WAC and become an immediate contender, so this day of competition will be a great day for our players and team to face another opponent and lace it up against one of the nation's finest college baseball programs," said UVU head coach
Eddie Smith.
Colorado Mesa plays in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and went 43-17 a year ago with a 23-8 record in RMAC play. The Mavericks won the South Central Regional last year with victories over No. 24 West Texas A&M and St. Edward's University. CMU traveled to No. 5 Angelo State University in the Super Regionals, losing the two-out-of-three series. At the end of the season, the Mavericks had three players selected in July's MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Admission is free for all three games on Friday. Live Stats will be available on uvustats.com. UVU will host the three-game Wolverine World Series on Oct. 27-29 to close out fall camp. Utah Valley will open the 2023 season at UC Davis with a four-game series at UC Davis on Feb. 17, 2023. The home opener will be on Tuesday, Feb. 28, when the Wolverines host BYU.
