OREM, Utah – The Utah Valley University women's golf team will head to Goodyear, Arizona, to conclude its 2021-22 regular season at Montana State's Bobcat Desert Classic.

The two-day, 54-hole event will run Monday to Tuesday, April 11-12, at the Golf Club of Estrella. The field will take part in 36 holes on Monday followed by the final 18 on Tuesday. Action will get underway each day at 8:30 a.m. MT/7:30 a.m. PT and live scoring will be available via GolfStat.com.

Besides the Wolverines and host Montana State Bobcats, in-state foes Dixie State, Southern Utah, and Weber State will also take part in the event, as well as Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Montana, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, and Santa Clara.

UVU will enter its final tune-up prior to the 2022 WAC Championship off of a 13th place finish out of 19 teams at Northern Arizona's Red Rocks Invitational on March 19-20 at Oakcreek Golf Club in Sedona. As a team, the Wolverines carded a 53-over-par 917 at the three-round event with scores of 302, 309, and 306.

Victoria Estrada led the way for the Wolverines at the Red Rocks Invite by recording a top 10 finish by tying for ninth with a 1-over-par 217. The reigning WAC individual champion Estrada carded scores of 71, 73, and 73 on her way to recording her first top-10 finish on the season.

Caylyn Ponich was next for UVU last time out by tying for 56th at 16-over (74-80-78—232), while Makenzie McMillen tied for 66th at 19-over (80-78-77—235), Leighton Shosted tied for 74th (80-78-79—237), and Bailey Henley tied for 79th (77-83-78—238).

The freshman Shosted leads Utah Valley on the season with a 75.58 scoring average and one individual victory after claiming medalist honors at the UTRGV Invitational last month. Estrada is next with a 75.71 clip, while Henley follows at 77.54.

The tandem of Estrada, Ponich, Henley, Anna Lesa, and Shosted are scheduled to compete for the Wolverines in Goodyear.

Following the event, UVU will prepare for the 2022 WAC Women's Golf Championship that will take place April 18-20 at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville, Texas. A season ago Estrada claimed medalist honors en route to becoming the first golfer in program history to compete at an NCAA Regional.
