OREM, Utah – Utah Valley volleyball head coach
Sam Atoa announced five signees for the upcoming 2023 season. Three Wolverines will begin their college career, while two others are transfers to UVU.

Vittoria Price joins UVU after playing at UTEP. The 6'2" middle blocker had 247 kills in two seasons in El Paso. She led UTEP in blocks in 2021 with 104 total blocks, finished fifth in C-USA in total blocks, and ranked 13
th in C-USA in blocks per set with 0.94. Price played for two years at New Mexico Military Institute and helped lead NMMI to the 2021 WJCAC Tournament final, where she had five blocks and six kills in the match. She is a native of Roswell, N.M., and played at Roswell High School, where she was selected to New Mexico's all-state team for three seasons.
Daniela Ferreira joins UVU after playing two seasons at Odessa College. The Lisbon, Portugal native is a two-time Western Junior College Athletic Conference selection and a one-time NJCAA Region 5 honoree. The outside hitter averaged 3.36 kills a set last season while hitting .251. Ferreira tallied 353 kills this past season to lead Odessa to a 25-8 record.
Evalyn Chism hails from Bountiful, Utah, and played at Bountiful High School. She climbed the state record books in high school and finished second in assists all-time with 3,333 and tenth in aces with 195. A two-time first-team all-state selection by the Deseret News, and overall, three-time all-state selection. She earned regional awards from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, including first-team all-region 8, AVCA All-American honorable mention, and the 2022 AVCA Best and Brightest first-team. She won a state championship as a junior and wrapped her senior year with her second career third-place finish.
Lani Matavao comes to Utah Valley after being a four-time all-region selection at West Jordan High School. The Libero/DS tallied 133 kills, 31 aces, 165 digs, and 82 assists for the Jaguars. She won region setter MVP, tournament MVP, and team MVP awards during high school.
Madi Standifird joins UVU from Skyridge High School in Lehi. The Falcons finished 21-10 in 2022 and had a third-place finish at the 6A State Tournament. Standifird was named first-team all-region 4 and first-team all-state by the Deseret News after tallying 357 kills, 347 digs, and 72 aces. Standifird was named to the Daily Herald's All-Valley first-team that recognizes the top players in Utah County.
Utah Valley went 18-11 in 2022 and finished second at the 2022 WAC Volleyball Tournament in Edinburg, Texas, this past season. The 2023 season begins in August, with more details coming in the summer.
