Thomson announces signing of local product, SLCC transfer Kendyl Purdy

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley head softball coach Cody Thomson has announced the signing of Salt Lake Community College transfer and former Wasatch High School standout Kendyl Purdy to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Wolverines. Purdy, who is entering her sophomore season, will play the 2024 season with the Bruins then join the Wolverines beginning with the 2025 season.

"I'm excited to get another dominant player from SLCC," said Thomson. "Kendyl is going to bring a lot of speed and experience to an already great outfield."

As a freshman, Purdy appeared in 39 games with 16 starts for SLCC. Purdy hit .507 with a 1.207 OPS and 16 stolen bases. Purdy helped lead the Bruins to a 42-12 record and a SWAC regular season championship, while earning first team All-SWAC honors.

A native of Heber City, Utah, Purdy prepped at Wasatch HS where she played under former All-WAC utility player and UVU alum Morgan Smith, and was teammates with current Wolverine Payge Armendariz. As a senior, Purdy was named first team All-Region, second team All-State, and helped lead the Wasps to a third place finish in the Utah state tournament.
