BELLEVUE, Wash. – Seattle University defeated Utah Valley 14-0 on Saturday afternoon at Bannerwood Ballpark. SU (3-12, 1-1) limited the UVU (12-8, 1-1) offense to three hits in the victory.
Seattle U scored two in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Wolverines looked to tie the game in the second after a walk to
Daniel Dickinson, and a double by
Patrick Mills put both runners in scoring position with two outs. Nester German worked out of the jam holding UVU scoreless.
Utah Valley left base runners on base in the second and fifth innings as
Matthew Schwarz reached on an error in the second, and
Cameron Rowe drew a two-out walk in the fifth. The Redhawks added a run in the fourth inning to go up 3-0.
Seattle U added five runs in the fifth and six runs in the sixth to take a 14-0 advantage. UVU had baserunners in both the sixth and seventh.
Burke Camper had a one-out single in the sixth, and
Luke Iverson added a lead-off single in the seventh.
German (2-3) threw a complete game shutout for SU on 12 strikeouts.
