Redhawks even the series in Bellevue with shutout

BELLEVUE, Wash. – Seattle University defeated Utah Valley 14-0 on Saturday afternoon at Bannerwood Ballpark. SU (3-12, 1-1) limited the UVU (12-8, 1-1) offense to three hits in the victory.

Seattle U scored two in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Wolverines looked to tie the game in the second after a walk to Daniel Dickinson, and a double by Patrick Mills put both runners in scoring position with two outs. Nester German worked out of the jam holding UVU scoreless.

Utah Valley left base runners on base in the second and fifth innings as Matthew Schwarz reached on an error in the second, and Cameron Rowe drew a two-out walk in the fifth. The Redhawks added a run in the fourth inning to go up 3-0.

Seattle U added five runs in the fifth and six runs in the sixth to take a 14-0 advantage. UVU had baserunners in both the sixth and seventh. Burke Camper had a one-out single in the sixth, and Luke Iverson added a lead-off single in the seventh.

German (2-3) threw a complete game shutout for SU on 12 strikeouts. Mitch Mueller takes the loss for UVU.

The Wolverines and Redhawks wrap up the three-game series tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. MT start from Bannerwood Ballpark. The game can be watched on WAC International with live stats on UVUstats.com.
