OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University continues the outdoor track & field season this week at the BYU Robison Invitational with the action beginning Wednesday at noon as the multis get underway at Clarence Robison Track.
The Wolverine women are ranked No. 24 in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Top 25 poll. It marks the first time in program history a UVU team has been ranked in the top 25 in outdoor track.
The men's decathlon and women's heptathlon will be on center stage for the first two days of the meet.
Neal Berkey and
Joey Trageser are expected to participate for the men, while
Madison Clark and
Meg Walker are scheduled to compete for the women.
The throws kick off Friday's action at 11 a.m. MT with the men's hammer. The triple jump and high jump begin at 1 p.m. before track gets started with the women's 100-meter trials at 2 p.m. Friday's schedule also includes the women's long jump and pole vault, men's and women's 400, and men's javelin, and concludes with the 400-meter hurdles finals starting at 3:20 p.m.
Saturday begins at 11 a.m. with the women's shot put and includes a full day of action in the field and on the track. Several Wolverine distance runners are expected to compete in the 800 for the first time including
Everlyn Kemboi and Mazzie Melaney, who are coming off big weeks at the Bryan Clay Invitational last weekend. Kemboi leads the country in the 5,000 and is third in the 10,000. She set school records in both races and established a school record in the 1,500 last week as well. The duo is part of the 5th-ranked 5,000-meter event squad that also includes
Madison Flippence and
Ari Trimble.
Current school record holders
Kelsi Oldroyd and
Nick Forsyth are on the slate for the javelin. Forsyth will compete on Friday at 3 p.m. with Oldroyd and the women's javelin on Saturday at 3 p.m. Oldroyd is the WAC leader and ranks 13th in the country.
The men's high jump event squad—which ranks third in the country this week—will compete on Friday at 1 p.m. with the quartet of
Seth Krauss,
Aiden Garnett,
Jeffrey Duvinston, and
Carter Cook. Krauss is the current school record holder in the high jump. Garnett has the WAC's top height this season, with a mark of 2.17 meters.
Other Wolverines who currently own school records and are competing in those events also include
Maysen Rollo and
Isaac Manning in the pole vault,
Kallie Given (high jump), and Oldroyd (long jump).
