PHOENIX—The Utah Valley men's golf team travels to Maricopa, Arizona this week to compete in the team's first-ever national postseason tournament at the Golfweek National Golf Invitational at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, May 19-21.
"We're excited to be playing postseason golf," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Curran. These boys deserve it. They've put in a ton of effort and had lots of success. The golf course at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes is fun. It should be a great week."
The Wolverines will be playing in their first-ever national postseason tournament as a team. Three UVU individuals have played in the NCAA Regionals, but a UVU team has never played together in a postseason national tournament.
The tournament will be a 54-hole, three-round, three-day event that will begin on Friday, May 19. A single 18-hole round will be played each day of the tournament. The Wolverines will play a practice round on Thursday, May 18.
The 13-team field will include George Washington, Arkansas State, Ball State, Valparaiso, Stetson, Santa Clara, Texas State, Oral Roberts, Penn State, Washington State, Troy, Wyoming, and Utah Valley.
The NGI will be played on the 7,360-yard par 72 Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. The course is sprawled across 320 acres of the Ak-Chin Indian Reservation. It offers 360-degree views of Arizona's desert and mountain vistas. It was designed by Fred Couples and the Schmidt-Curley design team.
Competing for Utah Valley at the tournament will be
Caden Weber,
Joseph Glenn,
Ethan Efford,
Ryan Seamons, and
Braden O'Grady. UVU's
Brady McKinlay (NCAA) and
