OGDEN, Utah — Morgan Nokes set a new school record in the mile as Utah Valley University had a total of 15 Top 10 marks set this weekend at the Weber State Invitational.
Nokes won the mile with an altitude-adjusted time of 4:46.56 as the women's squad had nine different Top 10 marks set. Nokes' accomplishment comes after she set a PR and the No. 3 time in the 3,000 last week. On Saturday in Ogden,
Ari Trimble also moved into No. 6 in the 3k with her time of 9:44.94. The women also had the second-best time in the distance medley relay in school history.
Oakley Olson,
Becky Lowder,
Olivia Larsen, and Nokes won the event in 11:43.32, less than two seconds off the school record.
Sydney Dennis set a personal best in the triple jump for the second week in a row. After the 8th-best mark in the top 10 last week in Provo, Dennis hit 11.10 meters to take over No. 5.
Grace Williams hit 3.55 meters in the pole vault, good enough for No. 6 in that event.
Alyssa Logan recorded the No. 3 mark in the weight throw, hitting 16.63 meters while finishing fourth overall at the meet.
Elyssa Shaw set her weight throw personal record for the second straight week, improving on her No. 10 mark with a throw of 15.75 meters.
Sarah Ballard and
Kali McEuen both reached 6th all-time in their events. Ballard entered the 55-meter top 10, finishing in 7.20 seconds to take second at the invitational. McEuen, who set the No. 6 time in the 60-meter hurdles earlier this season, also is No. 6 now in the 55-meter hurdles after finishing in 8.33 seconds on Saturday.
The men had six top 10 marks set, led by
Gabriel Remy's 55-meter time of 6.33 seconds, winning the event with the No. 3 mark in UVU's Top 10.
Kade Thompson also moved into a tie for seventh in the 55-meter sprint, finishing in 6.40 seconds to finish second to Remy.
The distance medley relay team recorded the No. 3 time behind the quartet of
Gio Ramirez,
Jacob Egan,
Pierce Vittone, and
Abdulsalam Farah. In the 55-meter hurdles,
Neal Berkey ran the No. 6 time, finishing in 7.74 seconds while
Isaiah Archer improved on his No. 9 mark at UVU in the 800-meter race, moving up to No. 4 all-time as he finished in 1:53.01 to take second overall.
Other Utah Valley notables include
Cameron Franklin, who won the 200-meter final in 22.34 seconds; Ballard was second in the 200; and
Madison Farrer was second in the high jump. Also of note, assistant coach and Wolverine outdoor All-American
Hannah Branch ran unattached and won the 3,000-meter final.
The Wolverines will be off next week before competing at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Feb. 2-3, and at the Utah State Speed & Power Meet on Feb. 3.
