OREM, Utah – Team Green rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Team Black 10-9 on Friday afternoon at UCCU Ballpark. Will Applegate drove in three runs, while Hunter Katschke and Kaden Carpenter each added two RBIs. Cooper Brass led Team Black, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs.

Team Black struck first in the top of the first inning when Derek Houston moved into scoring position on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Trenton Rowan. Team Green quickly responded in the bottom half when Katschke singled home Jayden Smith, but a strong relay from left field cut down Chipper Beck at the plate to keep the game tied at 1. Applegate then gave Green a 2-1 lead with a groundout that scored a runner from third.

In the second inning, Team Black put two runners on after Jet Jones singled and Brody Block walked. Brass followed with a three-run homer to left field to put Black back in front 4-2. Carpenter answered in the bottom half with a solo shot to narrow the deficit to 4-3.

Brass came through again with an RBI single in the fourth inning to score Jones and make it 5-3. Black added to its lead in the fifth when Rowan walked, stole second, and scored on an infield single by DJ Massey that was misplayed, allowing another run to score. Massey later scored on a wild pitch, and Brass drove in Block to extend the lead to 9-3.

Green began to chip away in the bottom of the fifth when Joseph Barnhardt singled and Smith tripled him home to make it 9-4.

Massey added a solo home run in the top of the sixth to give Black a 9-4 advantage. Green mounted its comeback in the bottom of the inning after a pitching change. Katschke led off with a walk, and Applegate tripled to cut the lead to 9-5. A fielding error and a hit batter loaded the bases before Carpenter drew a walk to make it 9-6. Beck was then hit by a pitch to cut the deficit to 9-7.

Katschke's second at-bat of the inning produced an infield single that scored another run, and Applegate capped the rally with a walk-off single up the middle to give Team Green the 10-9 win.
Utah Valley's fall season has now ended, and they will begin preparations for the 2026 season. The first day of competition for NCAA Baseball is Friday, Feb. 13, 2026.
