ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference announced the annual postseason awards on Monday afternoon. Four Wolverines earned all-conference honors, led by first-team selections
Mason Strong and
Jayden Smith, and
Dominic Longo II and
Luke Iverson earning second-team selections.
"I'm very proud of the work of these guys. I strongly feel we could have had seven or eight guys in the All-Conference awards, but these four really set the tone for a historic Utah Valley offense. The bar is high for future offenses to live up to because of these young men!" said UVU head coach
Nate Rasmussen.
Strong earned first-team All-WAC Catcher honors this season after playing in 51 games for the Wolverines. He is tied for the team lead in hits (74), doubles (17), and leads the team in slugging percentage (.602), along with total bases (124). In conference play, he sits near the top in a lot of offensive categories, including hits (40), where he finished second. His 36 RBIs led the conference during WAC play, and he continues to receive national attention coming at No. 35 on D1Baseball's Top 50 Catchers list.
Smith earned his first All-WAC selection and is the first hitter to hit .400 or better since UVU joined the WAC and the first since 2012. He finished the regular season hitting .411, which led the conference and is the sixth-best in program history. This leaves Smith eighth all-time for career batting average. He recorded 25 multi-hit games, with 16 of those being two-hit games and nine when he had three hits. His 1.57 hits per at-bat meant he was constantly on-base for the Wolverines, and his .520 on-base percentage during the season topped the WAC and is currently the top in program history.
Longo II earned his first All-WAC award and was named to the second team at the hot corner. He finished the 2025 season hitting .308 in 54 games played while adding eight home runs and driving in 53 runs during the campaign. Longo II finished in the Top 10 in hits this season with 66, including having a career-high five-hit game against Northern Colorado. His speed was a great asset in swiping a bag, finishing fourth in stolen base attempts and fifth in stolen bases with 19, adding 17 doubles, and scoring 47 runs so far in 2025.
Iverson was named second-team All-WAC for the second straight year. The junior was a staple and is UVU's co-leader in home runs with 16 in 2025 and needs three to break the single-season record. Seven have been leadoff home runs this season to help jumpstart the UVU offensive attack. He reached base safely in 48 consecutive games to break UVU's all-time record for the streak. When on the bases, he was a constant threat to score and tallied 67 runs scored, which is tied for the seventh most in a single season. Iverson has scored three runs in a game on ten occasions during the season and set a season-high with four RBIs against Abilene Christian.
