The Utah Valley University men's golf team opens its spring season this week at the Loyola Intercollegiate, Feb. 15-17, at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. The three-day tournament is hosted by Loyola University Maryland and features a 20-team field competing over 54 holes.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The Loyola Intercollegiate will be contested over three days with one round played each day. All teams will play 18 holes Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, with a 7:45 a.m. MST shotgun start each morning. The tournament will follow a play-five, score-four format, with the lowest four scores counting toward the team total each round.

TOURNAMENT FIELD
The field includes Richmond, Loyola Maryland, Marshall, Bucknell, Northern Colorado, SIU Edwardsville, UT Martin, Air Force, South Dakota, North Dakota State, Pennsylvania, Denver, Seton Hall, South Dakota State, Missouri State, Idaho, Utah Valley, NC State, Omaha, and Holy Cross. Grand Canyon will also be represented with individual competitors.
COURSE INFORMATION
Palm Valley Golf Club will serve as the host venue. The North/South Course is a par-72 layout measuring 7,013 yards. The Arizona desert course provides a balanced test that rewards consistency off the tee and precise approach play while challenging players with well-protected greens and strategic hazards.

LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley last competed at the Nassau Intercollegiate in Glen Cove, New York, where sophomore Paxton Maxwell fired an even-par 70 in the final round to earn co-medalist honors with a 2-over-par 212 (69-73-70), the first individual title of his collegiate career. Maxwell finished atop the 66-player field alongside Navy's Jack Tarzy, recording five birdies in the final round.
Freshman Colby Hutchens also posted an even-par 70 in the final round to finish one stroke back in a tie for third at 3-over-par 213 (71-72-70), the best finish of his collegiate career.
As a team, Utah Valley shot a final-round 13-over-par 293 to finish fifth in the 12-team field at 42-over-par 882 (294-295-293). Rhode Island won the team title at 31-over-par 871 (283-294-294).
LOOKING AHEAD
Following the Loyola Intercollegiate, Utah Valley will continue its spring season at the Nick Watney Invitational, March 2-3, at San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, California.
