PALM DESERT, Calif.—Utah Valley opened play at the Mountain Classic Match Play with a 4-1-0 victory over Boise State on Monday at The Classic Club, advancing to Tuesday's semifinal round against Nevada.
The Wolverines claimed four of the five individual matches in the opening round.
Pati Uluave earned a 2&1 win over Boise State's Teal Matsueda, recording three birdies and 12 pars in her match.
Chloe Jang delivered the most decisive result of the day, defeating Jillian Hui 6&5. Jang carded two birdies and 10 pars in the victory.
Valentina Zuleta secured a 2&0 win over Leia Chung, tallying two birdies and 14 pars in her match.
Alyssa Butterfus added another point for Utah Valley with a 4&3 win over Brook Patterson. Butterfus recorded three birdies and 10 pars.
Maria Ortiz battled to an all-square finish with Macee Greenwood, notching one birdie and 12 pars.
With the win, Utah Valley advances to face Nevada in Tuesday's semifinal round at The Classic Club. The winner will move on to Wednesday's championship match against either Montana State or Washington State.
