OREM, Utah — Utah Valley head coach Nate Rasmussen has announced the addition of Sam Leach as the Director of Hitting for the Wolverines baseball program.
 
Leach played four seasons at the University of Northern Colorado, where he competed as a two-way player for the Bears.
 
"Sam is joining us from Everett Community College in Washington. Our staff's ties to the Northwest run deep, and that ultimately made it very easy to add Sam to our staff," Rasmussen said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge to our program and will help us build another consistent offense here at UVU."
 
Leach most recently served as an assistant coach at Everett Community College, where he worked with the Trojans' infielders and hitters. He helped lead the program to a 43-11 overall record and a 25-5 mark in conference play.
 
As a player at Northern Colorado, Leach was a standout at the plate. He posted a career-best .311 batting average in 2019, recording 51 hits and 10 doubles. During his senior season, he hit .301 while also logging 59 2/3 innings on the mound. He finished the year with a 3-7 record in 12 appearances, including 11 starts.
 
Over his four-year career, Leach pitched 96 innings for the Bears.
 
Leach comes from an accomplished athletic family. One of his older brothers competed in track and field at the University of California, while another brother currently plays baseball at Arizona State.
