Wolverines Travel to Northern Colorado to Play Two

April 30, 2004 

OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley State baseball team will travel to Greeley, Colorado to play a two game series with the University of Northern Colorado on Saturday and Sunday. The Wolverines and Bears will play a single game each day starting at 12:00 pm (MST). 

UVSC split a two game series with UNC on April 2-3 in Provo. The Bears won the first game 6-3, and the Wolverines won game two 4-3 on a RBI single by Dylan Priest in the bottom of the ninth inning. 

Wolverine Update: 
UVSC has won eight of its last nine games, and 14 of its last 19 after starting the season 2-9. On Tuesday the Wolverines (16-14) were defeated by the University of Utah, 12-9. After getting down 12-1, the "never say die" Wolverines chipped away at the Ute lead and brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning. 

Broadhead and Josh Hinckley lead the way offensively for UVSC. Broadhead is hitting at a .407 clip, while Hinckley is hitting an even .400, with 3 HR and 15 RBI. 

Dan Bulow, a true freshman out of Springville, Utah was named Division I Independent Baseball Co-Newcomer of the Week last week for his performance against Weber State University. In a doubleheader sweep of the Wildcats, Bulow went 5-for-8 (.625) with 2 HR, 2 2B, and 7 RBI.  

UNC enter this weekend's series with an overall record of 25-17. The Bears were swept by #19 Nebraska in a two game series on Tuesday and Wednesday in Lincoln. UNC took a 3-1 lead into the ninth inning in game one. But the Bears allowed the Huskers to score three runs in the bottom half to win the game. Nebraska won game two of the series 13-7.
