What's On Deck ...
Utah Valley State (13-29) will take on in-state rival Utah in a mid-week contest on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00pm at Ute Field.

The game was originally scheduled to be in Orem at 7pm but because of bad weather during the four-game series in early April, games were moved around and Tuesday's game will be in Salt Lake City.

This will be the fifth of six scheduled games between the schools during 2006. Utah won the first three (6-11, 5-18, 6-12) before the Wolverines edged the Utes in the fourth game 5-4.

The Utes tied a school record in their 18-5 win with nine home runs in the game.

The Wolverines are coming off of a series at Nevada where they lost two out of three. The lone win came in the series opener as senior Kam Mickolio threw the first single pitcher shutout in the 19-year history of Nevada's Peccole Park in a 5-0 Utah Valley win.

It was the second shutout of the season for Mickolio, who struck out five while allowing just four hits.

Adam Openshaw hit .462 (6-for-13) with three doubles and an RBI during the series.

Scouting the Opposition ...
Utah (20-18, 4-6 in Mountain West) is coming off a weekend where it lost three out of four at New Mexico. The Utes' lone win came in the completion of a game the began earlier in the year at the Mountain West Pre-season Tournament in San Diego.

Ryan Khoury is batting .445 with 10 home runs and 41 runs batted in. He leads the Mountain West in batting average and slugging percentage and as of last week was in the top 20 in the nation in batting.

Utah is among the national leaders in total home runs (47) and team batting (.322).

Up Next ...
Utah Valley State will host NAIA powerhouse Lewis & Clark State in a three-game series on Thursday-Saturday at 7pm. The Warriors are 35-3 and currently ranked #1 in the nation in NAIA baseball.
