This will be the second meeting this season and the seventh overall between Utah Valley and Gonzaga. The two met at the Banana Belt Tournament earlier in the year with the Bulldogs scoring twice in the bottom of the eighth to earn a 6-5 win. Gonzaga holds a 6-0 all-time series lead.
UV was swept last weekend at Nevada, with two of the losses coming by one run. After being shutout 11-0 in the opener by Wolfpack starter Ryan Rodriguez, the Wolverines fell behind in game two 8-1 before roaring all the way back with a seven-run seventh inning. But Nevada's David Ciarlo drove in what ended up as the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh and UV lost 9-8.
The final game of the series saw Ciarlo as the hero again for the Wolfpack, as he again drove in the winning run, this time in the 10th inning to give Nevada a 4-3 win and the sweep.
