Baseball Travels to Nevada This Weekend

OREM, Utah - Utah Valley travels to Reno this weekend for a four-game series at Nevada. The teams will play Friday night followed by a Saturday doubleheader and a single game Sunday. All four games can be heard live at WolverineGreen.com.

The Wolverines (7-20-1) split a Tuesday doubleheader with in-state rival Southern Utah. In the UV win, senior pitcher Marcus Moore tossed his sixth career complete game and second in a week. After throwing his first career shutou against Utah on April 2nd, Moore tied his own school record with 14 k's against SUU in a 3-1 Wolverine win.

Scott Croshaw is hitting .560 (14-for-25) with two doubles, two triples, a home run and 10 runs batted in in UV's last six games. In that same timeframe, Moore is 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA and has allowed just nine hits while striking out 23 in 18 innings.

Nevada is led by David Ciarlo, who's .455 batting average is among the top 10 in the nation. Ciarlo has three home runs and a .716 slugging percentage of the Wolf Pack (17-14, 8-4 in WAC).

Nevada is coming off of a 14-3 loss at Pacific on Tuesday in Stockton, California. The Wolf Pack took three out of four in Western Athletic Conference action over the weekend against against New Mexico State.

Utah Valley trails the all-time series 5-1 against Nevada, with the lone win coming during the 2006 season when Kam Mickolio threw a shutout in Reno. The Wolf Pack swept a three-game series last season, winning twice by a single run.

Utah Valley will play its final of six games against the University of Utah on Tuesday at Ute Field in Salt Lake City at 3pm. They'll then travel to Greeley, Colorado to face Air Force and Northern Colorado two times apiece.
