OREM, Utah - Utah Valley continues its tough month of May this week with a three-game series at No. 19 Arizona and two games at two-time defending College World Series champion Oregon State. The Wolverines (14-31-1) will be in Tucson, Arizona beginning Friday before traveling to Corvallis, Oregon for a series that begins Monday. All games can be heard live at WolverineGreen.com.

UV has won two straight after upsetting No. 9 Oklahoma State, 11-3, last Sunday. On Monday, the Wolverines defeated BYU, 11-4, at home in front of a school record 3,730 in head coach Steve Gardner's final home game.

The upset of Oklahoma State marked the highest ranked team that Utah Valley has beaten in its five NCAA seasons. The only other ranked opponent the Wolverines have defeated came at No. 16 Arizona State in 2005. Senior Bryan Smith tossed his first complete game and struck out a career-high 11 in the win over the Cowboys.

Against BYU on Monday. Marcus Moore threw his eighth career complete game making his final start at home. Senior Adam Openshaw had three hits in the game while Jace Brinkerhoff hit his team leading seventh home run as part of a four-run first for UV. Cole Anderson hit a three-run blast in the eighth, his second of the season, to put the game out of reach.

Arizona (31-15) salvaged the final game of its series at No. 16 Cal with a 16-5 win on Sunday. The Wildcats boast one of the nation's premier pitching staffs led by Friday's starter Preston Guilmet, reliever Daniel Schlereth and closer Jason Stoffel.

Oregon State (22-18) has won two straight after defeating Portland 4-1 in the completion of a suspended game on Monday. The Beavers topped Washington State 19-9 on Sunday after dropping the first two games of the series in Pullman, Washington. Ryan Ortiz and Lonnie Lechelt are both batting .347 to lead OSU.

The Wolverines will wrap up the 2008 season next weekend at Hawaii on May 14-16.
