OREM, Utah - Utah Valley Baseball begins a four-game series against Southern Utah on Thursday at 2 p.m. The games will be played in St. George, likely Dixie High School, due to weather conditions in Cedar City. Stay posted on WolverineGreen.com for the latest updates.

The teams will also play a doubleheader Friday beginning at noon with the series finale set for Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Wolverines (0-3) dropped three games at Arizona last weekend to open the 2010 season. In the final game on Sunday, UVU jumped out a 6-0 lead after two before the Wildcats tied it with six runs in the third.

Chris Benson, who went 5-for-5 in the game, lined a shot over the centerfield wall in the top of the seventh to put Utah Valley up 7-6. That run was answered in the bottom of the seventh and the teams were tied after nine, sending the game to extra innings.

The Wolverines threatened in the 10th, putting two runners on with two outs but couldn't score. Arizona's Jett Bandy then homered to lead off the bottom of the inning to give his team the series sweep.

Southern Utah (0-4) lost three games at Cal to open the season and failed to score a run in any of the three games. The T-Birds then lost a heartbreaker, 5-4, in 11 innings at UNLV on Tuesday night.

Next week, Utah Valley travels to Surprise, Arizona for the Coca-Cola Classic hosted by Arizona State. The Wolverines face Florida International, Cal Poly, Oregon State and UC Riverside at the classic.
