CHICAGO - Fresh off of a series win at Northern Colorado, Utah Valley baseball travels to Chicago State this week for a four-game Great West Conference series in the Windy City.
The series has been shifted due to a weekend forecast that includes rain and the teams will now play a doubleheader on Friday at noon at Olive Harvey College.
The Wolverines (17-14, 7-1 in GWC) are alone atop the conference standings after closing out their four-game series at UNC with three straight wins. After a 10-4 loss in the opener last Friday, UVU won 8-5, 23-9 and 3-1 to take a one-game lead over NYIT early on in the conference season.
Chris Benson continues to lead UVU in hitting and is currently ninth in the nation at .450 on the year, with the Wolverines .352 team average good enough for sixth in the country. Jace Brinkerhoff homered twice in the series at Northern Colorado and is batting .426 with a team-high eight home runs.
Chicago State (2-29, 0-8) ended a 22-game losing streak on Wednesday with at 13-10 win at North Park.
