About the Wolverines
UVU is a win away from setting a new school record for wins in a season at the Division I level. The Wolverines swept four games from Texas-Pan American over the weekend, winning the final two games of the series by indentical 8-7 scores.

In the series as a whole, Kevin Arendse went 9-for-13 (.692) with five doubles and actually began the series with hits in his first six at-bats and reached base in his first eight plate appearances. Arendse was named the Great West Conference Player of the Week on Monday for his performance.

Jace Brinkerhoff became the first Utah Valley player to surpass 300 career hits in the series opener, a 19-11 win in which he went 3-for-5. His 301st hit was a solo home run, his team-leading ninth of the year, on a towering shot to right. Chris Benson and Goose Kallunki also both have nine home runs while Billy Burgess has eight.

Benson homered twice and drove in five runs in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, a 7-2 win. Benson leads the team with 55 runs batted in. Also in the win, Zane Gray tossed a seven-inning complete game, his second CG of the season.

Sam Armstrong also had a strong weekend on the mound. He picked up a save after throwing 3.2 scoreless innings in the opener and then came back with 4.0 innings of work on Sunday to earn the win.

Closer Brian Whatcott picked up two saves and upped his total to seven, which is far and away a single season school record.
