Wolverines Host Chicago State in Great West Series

April 20, 2011

OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley baseball begins a stretch of 10 straight home games with a four-game, Great West Conference series beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. against Chicago State at Brent Brown Ballpark.

The teams are also scheduled to play a Friday doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. with Saturday's finale slated for noon.

The Wolverines (12-17, 4-0) have won five straight overall but haven't played since a 12-4 win over Utah on April 12. All four scheduled conference games were snowed out over the weekend at North Dakota.

UVU has won 14 straight Great West regular season games including all four in its opening series at NJIT two weeks ago. The two teams played three consecutive extra-inning games including a pair that lasted 14 innings.

In the Wolverines' win over the Utes on April 12, Alex Exon hit a pair three-run home runs to drive in six runs, tying a school record. It was also the first multi-homer game of the year for a UVU player.

Chicago State hosted NYIT and the teams lost three of the four games in that series due to weather, with NYIT winning the only game 5-1. The Cougars (4-24, 0-5) dropped their first four conference games at Texas-Pan American two weeks ago. The Wolverines are 6-0 all-time against CSU including a come-from-behind, walk-off win in last year's GWC Tournament.

Next week, Utah Valley hosts Utah on April 26 and a four-game conference series against NYIT.
