GRAND FORKS, North Dakota - Houston Baptist won twice on Friday and will be Utah Valley's opponent in Saturday's Great West Conference tournament championship. Game time has been moved up to 1 p.m. CT/noon MT due to expected rain.
The Wolverines enter the final with two chances to win one game. If the Huskies win, the teams will face off in a winner-take-all contest on Saturday afternoon.
Utah Valley scored wins over Chicago State (13-3), New York Tech (5-3) and North Dakota (3-2) on its way to the final. Houston Baptist defeated Texas-Pan American (6-5) and lost to North Dakota (8-2) before winning three straight elimination games; 17-3 over NJIT, 6-3 against New York and then 7-1 over North Dakota.
The Wolverines swept four games from HBU in Orem during the regular season and are 9-0 all-time against the Huskies. UVU won a 9-2 game during last season's Great West Tournament in Edinburg, Texas.
