FULLERTON, Calif. - Utah Valley heads to Southern California this week to face No. 20 Cal State Fullerton in a three-game series starting Friday at 7 p.m. PT/8 p.m. MT. The teams will also play Saturday at 7 p.m. PT and Sunday at 1 p.m. PT. All three games will be carried live on 960 AM the Zone and on WolverineGreen.com.

The series for the Wolverines (2-5) will be the first weekend series ever against a school from the Big West Conference and the second time in the last two weeks that UVU will face a ranked opponent. Utah Valley has played a Big West team only one other time when Cal Poly defeated UVU, 8-6, in 2010 in Surprise, Ariz.

"We're looking forward to playing high-caliber team like Cal State Fullerton," said UVU head coach Eric Madsen. "We know it's going to be a challenge but we're looking to go in and compete and give ourselves a chance to win."

The Wolverines got strong seven innings of work from Adam Gunn on Sunday to salvage the finale of a three-game set at Nevada. Gunn allowed just one unearned run on four hits and Preston Olson followed with two perfect innings to get the save. Jake Rickenbach homered in the win and the Wolverines got three runs in the ninth in the 6-1 victory.

Gunn was named the Great West Conference's inaugural Pitcher of the Week on Monday after his outing against the Wolfpack combined with a six strikeout performance earlier in the week at No. 8 Arizona.

Cal State Fullerton (5-3) has played series at top-ranked Florida and home against then-No. 15 TCU, winning two of three from the Horned Frogs over the weekend. The Titans, who have won four straight, shutout San Diego State 3-0 on Tuesday and used a four-run eighth to beat Loyola Marymount, 6-2, on Wednesday night. CSF is a program that has 16 College World Series appearances and four National Championships and has been to the NCAA Tournament every year since 1992.

The Wolverines will play in-state Southern Utah in a three-game series with a single game on Thursday, March 8 and a doubleheader on March 9. It will be the final series for UVU at SUU in the T-Birds final season of baseball. SUU will play in Orem in a series at the end of March.
