Baseball in Northern California for Three at Saint Mary's

March 15, 2012

MORAGA, Calif. -- Fresh off of Wednesday's win at 11th-ranked Arizona State, Utah Valley University is set to face Saint Mary's College in a three-game series scheduled to begin Friday at 3 p.m. PT. Rain is expected throughout the weekend and could play havoc the schedule.

Friday's game can be heard live on 960 AM the Zone and on WolverineGreen.com. Both weekend games will be broadcast online at WolverineGreen.com

The Wolverines (6-9) have won four of their last five after the win over the Sun Devils. Freshman Jordy Hart had a breakout game, tripling twice and driving in five runs while scoring three more. The win is UVU baseball's third over a ranked opponent since the program moved to NCAA DI athletics in 2004.

The Gaels, of the West Coast Conference, also own a win over Arizona State and are 10-6 on the season. Saint Mary's took two out of three at San Diego State. Senior Troy Channing leads the team with a .400 batting average and 11 RBIs.

Saint Mary's ranks among the national leaders in team ERA, which at 2.36, is the eighth best in the country. The Gaels lead the all-time series against UVU, 4-1.

This weekend series marks a stretch of 18 straight games on the road to begin the season. Utah Valley's home opener will be next Thursday at 6 p.m. MT against Sacramento State.
