OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley University baseball continues its 11-game home stand with a three-game series against in-state rival Southern Utah beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. MT from Brent Brown Ballpark. Game two is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday's finale is slated for 1 p.m.

The first two games in the series can be heard live on 960 AM the Zone with the entire series streamed online -- both audio and video -- at WolverineGreen.com.

The Wolverines (9-11) won the last two games to win a three-game series against Sacramento State in the home-opening weekend of the 2012 season. After dropping the opener, UVU rebounded to win 10-6 and 13-8.

Kai Hatch had three-hit games in both Wolverine wins and Austin Heaps tied a school record with six RBIs in the series finale. Both players homered in the sixth inning of the 13-8 win, with Heaps' grand slam providing a big blow in the seven-run frame. In the sixth, Hatch homered to lead off and then later in the same inning also tripled.

Southern Utah, of the Summit League, is 6-17 after a loss on Tuesday night at UNLV. The T-Birds swept UVU's Great West Conference foe, Chicago State, last weekend in three games at home.

Utah Valley leads the all-time series, 26-23, with this weekend's games serving as the final three in the series between the schools. Southern Utah announced that this would be its final season of baseball as it prepares to enter the Big Sky Conference in the summer.

Next week, the Wolverines host No. 8 Arizona in the program's first-ever home game against a ranked opponent. The Pac-12 Wildcats come to Brent Brown Ballpark on Wednesday, April 4. UVU will then begin Great West Conference play with a four-game series against North Dakota starting April 5.
