OREM, Utah -
After taking two of three from Bakersfield for its second straight series win, Utah Valley University is set to make the quick trip to Provo to face BYU on Tuesday at 6 p.m. MT at Larry H. Miller Field.

The Wolverines (9-18) are slated to start senior right-hander Devin Nelson with the Cougars (10-19) sending right-handed junior Michael Springer to the mound. UVU and BYU are also slated to meet on April 29 at Brent Brown Ballpark in Orem.

In Utah Valley's series win over CSUB, pitchers Ryan Evans and Danny Beddes helped pitch the team to a doubleheader sweep on Saturday after dropping Friday's opener. Evans, who was named the WAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday, pitched 7.2 shutout innings of two-hit baseball and retired the side in order six times during the game.

Beddes pitched into the ninth, going 8.1 innings, and gave up just two unearned runs on three hits. Colby Croft also had a good weekend at the plate, hitting .625 with two doubles and five RBIs.

BYU defeated Utah last Tuesday in Salt Lake City before dropping two of three at Saint Mary's in a West Coast Conference series. Tuesday's game will be the first home game for the Cougars since March 15 after playing eight straight on the road. BYU is the fourth WCC team on the schedule for UVU this season (Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Pacific).

The Wolverines head for the Windy City for a three-game WAC series at Chicago State starting Friday at 5 p.m. MT. Utah Valley is 3-3 in conference play heading in into the weekend.
