OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley University steps back into Western Athletic Conference action with a three-game series against Northern Colorado starting Friday night at Brent Brown Ballpark. The Wolverines (16-22, 8-7) earned a split of the season series with in-state rival Utah with a 12-8 win on Tuesday in Orem.

UVU enters the weekend in a tie for sixth in the WAC, with only two games in the loss column separating the second through the eighth place teams. The top six qualify for the WAC Tournament in Mesa.

In the win over Utah on Tuesday, Utah Valley trailed twice before outlasting the Utes on a cold and windy night in Orem. Five different Wolverines had two-hit days, with Craig Brinkerhoff hitting his team-best fifth home run of the year and driving in three runs on the day. Brinkerhoff is currently tied for second in the WAC in home runs.

The Bears (6-34, 1-14) snapped a long losing skid last week, winning the opener of a series against the current second place team in the WAC, Grand Canyon. Along with UVU, Northern Colorado is one of five schools that competed in the Great West in baseball last season that moved to the WAC.

The Wolverines play their final in-state game of the season next Tuesday when BYU comes to Brent Brown Ballpark. Following that contest, Utah Valley heads to New Mexico State for three WAC games before playing a single game on Monday, May 5 at New Mexico.
