BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Utah Valley University and Seattle University open WAC play this weekend with a three-game series beginning Friday at 5 p.m. PT.

The Wolverines took two of three last year in Orem against the Redhawks in UVU's first season as members of the WAC.

Seattle was picked to finish fourth in the WAC preseason poll with Utah Valley picked right behind them, in fifth. The Redhawks own a 5-4 all-time series lead, including a 3-2 record in games at Bannerwood Park, site of this weekend's series.

The Wolverines (4-16) dropped a midweek contest at Utah, 9-3, on Tuesday night at Smith's Ballpark. Kade Andrus hit a two-run home run for the Wolverines, but a five-run fourth from the Utes proved too much to overcome. Andrus drove in all three runs for Utah Valley including a two-out RBI single in the third for an early 1-0 lead.

Seattle (7-13) took two of three from Northwestern last week, winning both ends of a doubleheader on March 13. Saturday's schedule starter, right-hander Skyler Genger, was named the WAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday after striking out 11 and allowing just one run on three hits in a complete game win against Northwestern. The Redhawks have played 18 of their 20 games at home and have gone 7-11 in those contests.

UVU will not play a midweek contest next week and begins a three-game WAC series at Bakersfield on March 27.
