Game NotesUtah Valley plays its first true road game of the season in a midweek contest against the University of San Francisco on Wednesday at 7 p.m. PT/8 p.m. MT. The game will be played at Cal's Evans Diamond in Berkeley, California due to construction on San Francisco's Field.
San Francisco (0-4) plays at Cal on Tuesday night following a four-game series at UC Santa Barbara to open the season.
UVU (2-2) and USF have met four times before, two coming in San Francisco and two in Albuquerque at the University of New Mexico. The Dons won both home games which were played during the 2006 season. The games at New Mexico were last season were split, with UVU winning 3-1 and USF winning 7-6.
Utah Valley will start
Jason Jourdan, who pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in his Wolverine debut on Sunday against Ball State. San Francisco is slated to go with Joey Carney, who pitched one perfect inning in the season-opening series against UC Santa Barbara.
The Dons dropped all four contests at UCSB while the Wolverines split four games in a tournament in Surprise, Arizona. UVU opened with a 5-1 win over Ball State behind a solid, seven-inning performance from
Danny Beddes on the mound. After a loss to Minnesota, Utah Valley went on to upset No. 5 Oregon State, 12-9, with freshman
Ryne Edmondson driving in four runs in the win. The weekend ended with a 3-1 loss to Ball State.
On DeckThe Wolverines' first midweek game of the season precedes the four-game Jack Gifford Memorial Tournament this weekend at Santa Clara. UVU will face the host Broncos, Saint Joseph's, and UC Davis two times. Michigan will also be part of the weekend but UVU will not face UM's Wolverines.
