Utah Valley University takes a break from WAC play with a midweek contest against the University of Utah on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Brent Brown Ballpark.

The game is a rematch of last Wednesday's 7-6 UVU (15-14) win at Utah (10-14) in Salt Lake City. In that game Justin Erlandson had an RBI triple followed by a two-run, go-ahead double from Craig Brinkerhoff to put UVU in front in the eighth inning. Jake Atkinson also tripled home two runs for the Wolverines.

Matt Davidson pitched two scoreless innings to earn a save against the Utes and then followed that up as the winning pitcher in Utah Valley's come-from-behind 10-9 win vs North Dakota on Saturday. His effort earned him the WAC Pitcher of the Week honor on Monday. The Wolverines scored nine runs in the bottom of the ninth for the unlikely win. Spencer Gothberg hit a grand slam as part of the comeback and drove in five runs in the game.

The Wolverines dropped the opener against North Dakota, 13-7, and the finale, 4-3, to lose the home WAC series and sit at 3-3 after two league series.

Utah swept Arizona at home over the weekend to notch its first ever Pac 12 series sweep. The Utes entered Collegiate Baseball's Top 30 at No. 30 on Monday and are 7-2 in conference play, winning all three series to start the season. Utah has won six of its last eight games overall.

The Utes came from behind in all three games against Arizona over the weekend, winning by scores of 6-3, 7-6 and 4-2. Utah trailed 3-0 in the opener before a six-run seventh inning propelled the Utes to the win. A day later the Wildcats held a 6-2 lead in the ninth before Utah rallied with five runs with Patrick Flynn's RBI single serving as the walk-off hit. In the finale, Utah trailed 2-0 until a four-run eighth inning completed the sweep.

The Wolverines wrap up their current seven-game homestand with a three-game WAC series beginning Friday against Northern Colorado. Next week UVU will travel to Las Cruces to face New Mexico State.
