Utah Valley University resumes WAC play in a three-game series against Northern Colorado beginning Friday night at 6 p.m. MT. The middle game of the series is on Saturday at 6 p.m. MT with the finale on Sunday at noon MT.
The Wolverines (16-14, 3-3) are coming off of a 10-4 win over in-state foe Utah on Tuesday in a game that clinched the season series over the Utes with one game remaining.
Greyson Bogden went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs while
Jordan Schlehuber was 3-for-3 and scored three runs after reaching base in each of his four plate appearances. Bogden's double was his 13th of the season, which ranks 13th in the nation entering the weekend. The Wolverines as a team also rank 18th in the country with 29 double plays defensively.
Against the Utes,
Jake Mayer struck out three in 1.2 innings of relief to earn his second win of the season. Mayer hasn't allowed a run in his last five appearances spanning 12.0 innings.
Northern Colorado (5-10, 0-3) was swept last weekend at Sacramento State by scores of 8-5, 5-1 and 6-3. The Bears had their scheduled home-opening WAC series against UT Rio Grande Valley snowed out two weeks ago.
Cole Maltese is batting .284 with two home runs for NC while Brett Minnick leads the WAC with five home runs. UVU leads the all-time series against Northern Colorado 30-15, but the Bears swept the series last season in Greeley, Colorado.
The Wolverines will play their next four games on the road with a three-game series at New Mexico State starting on Friday, April 15 in Las Cruces. UVU will then face Utah for the final time this season on Tuesday, April 19 in Salt Lake City.
