Utah Valley University wraps up the WAC regular season with a three-game series at Chicago State beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. CT/5 p.m. MT. Friday's game is set for 3 p.m. CT with Saturday's finale at noon CT.

The Wolverines (30-21, 15-9) are currently tied with Sacramento State for third in the WAC with the Hornets hosting league leader Seattle U this week. The top two seeds get a bye with Seattle already clinching one of those spots. New Mexico State needs just one win at Northern Colorado or one UVU loss to clinch the other first-round bye. The Aggies are one game back of the Redhawks in the fight for the regular season title.

Utah Valley is coming off of a series win over UT Rio Grande Valley in the final home series of the season. The Wolverines pounded out season high in both runs (16) and hits (19) in a 16-11 win in the series opener last Friday. The following day, it took 13 innings before a winner was decided, with Spencer Gothberg delivering a walk-off double that scored Craig Brinkerhoff for the win.

In Sunday's series -- and home -- finale, UTRGV salvaged a game with a 4-2 win. Brinkerhoff homered for Utah Valley to give him a team-high nine on the season and third in his last five games. He is currently ranked second in the WAC in home runs while Utah Valley ranks No. 11 nationally in double plays and double plays turned per game nationally. The Wolverines also lead the WAC and are 45th in the country in hits.

Chicago State is eliminated from postseason contention and sits at 13-39 overall and 6-18 in WAC play. The Cougars were swept at CSU Bakersfield last weekend. CSU had won three straight prior to that, including notching a series win over North Dakota the weekend before.  Preseason All-WAC selection Andy Gertonson leads the team offensively, batting .295 with six home runs, 32 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.
