ON DECK
Utah Valley University wraps up its stretch of seven road games to start the season with a Tuesday midweek at San Francisco. The game can be seen live on the theW.tv.

THE FORECAST
According to Weather.com, Tuesday will be sunny and mid-50's in San Francisco.  

LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines (1-5) lost two of three at UC Davis over the weekend. UVU took the series opener, 4-3, behind a strong performance on the mound from Jackson Cofer. After the Aggies won the middle game, 9-4, Utah Valley looked poised to take the series in Sunday's finale. Leading 6-3 in the eighth, the Wolverines surrendered the game-tying runs before a walk-off double in the ninth. 

IN THE HOLE
Following Tuesday's game at San Francisco, UVU is schedule to open its home schedule in a four-game series at Brent Brown Ballpark against Indiana State. The series begins Friday, March 3 at 5 p.m. and runs through Monday's 3 p.m. finale. Saturday and Sunday first pitch are slated for 1 p.m. 

SCHULTZ MAKING FIRST CAREER START
Freshman right-hander and Orem native Paxton Schultz (Orem HS) is set to make his first career start on Tuesday at San Francisco. Schultz has made to relief appearances so far and has allowed just one run on one hit in 4.1 innings. He retired the first 11 hitters of his career before surrendering the hit, a home run in Friday's series-opening win at UC Davis. 

NEWCOMERS PACING OFFENSE
Three newcomers to the 2017 have provided much of the offense so far this season. Salt Lake Community College transfer Trevor Peterson is batting .409 after a four-hit day on Sunday. He was 7-for-13 in the series at UC Davis. Freshman Jake Berry is hitting .316 and Cochise College transfer is batting .292 with a home run and three doubles.  

ABOUT THE DONS
San Francisco is 5-3 on the season and is coming off of a split of four games at Hawai'i over the weekend. The Dons took three of four from WAC school Northern Colorado to open the season. As a team, USF sports just a 2.28 ERA with Ross Puskarich leading the team with a .400 batting average.
