  • After playing 18 straight games on the road to start the season, Utah Valley University is set for its next nine at home at UCCU Ballpark beginning with a three-game series Friday against Northern Colorado.
  • The Wolverines (7-11) will play their next nine games at home including non-conference contests against BYU (March 27) and Air Force (April 2-3).
  • The Wolverines took two of three from UC Irvine over the weekend, winning the last two games of the series by scores of 8-5 and 9-5. The Anteaters scored three late runs to win the opener, 4-2.
  • Pacen Hayes homered twice in the series including a three-run blast in the 8-5 victory in the top of the ninth inning. That home run put UVU up four runs at the time and was the difference in the final score.
  • Jackson Overlund went 3-for-5 with four RBIs in Sunday's series-clinching win.
  • Utah Valley has played Northern Colorado more than any other program during its NCAA Division I tenure, dating back to 2004. The Wolverines are 34-18 all-time against the Bears, including 17-4 at UCCU Ballaprk.
  • Jake Mayer continued his torrid start to the 2018 season with another strong performance against UC Irvine. Mayer, who will start Friday's opener, has thrown five straight quality starts to begin his senior campaign. Last Friday he lasted seven innings and surrendered two runs on eight hits while striking out a career-best 10. He as 36 strikeouts in 36 innings so far this season, to go along with a 2.50 ERA and has limited opponents to a .205 average.
  • The Wolverines host BYU next Tuesday in the UCCU Crosstown Clash before a three-game series beginning Thursday against UT Rio Grand Valley in WAC play.  

ABOUT NORTHERN COLORADO
Northern Colorado enters WAC play having won three of four and holds the best non-conference record (14-8) of all WAC teams. The Bears won three of four over the weekend at UC Davis after splitting a midweek series at Nebraska. They were on the short end of a Tuesday game this week against Air Force, falling 12-6.

Jack Pauley leads the team with a .371 batting average and was named the WAC Hitter of the Week on Monday. The Bears have the second-best average in the league with a cumulative .293 batting average with six lineup regulars batting .302 or better.
