OREM, Utah – Utah Valley University senior golfer
Ana Raga has been selected to represent her home country of Venezuela at the World Amateur Team Championship in Maynooth, Ireland. The prestigious tournament will run Aug. 29 to Sept. 8 at Carton House Golf Club.
Â
Raga, a two-time All-WAC honoree after earning first team all-conference honors for the Wolverines in each of the past two seasons, earned a spot to play for the Venezuelan national team after qualifying earlier in the year thanks to her World Amateur Golf ranking. Venezuela was one of 125 countries to earn a spot to compete at the World Amateur Team Championship due to Venezuela's national team ranking.Â
Â
This year will mark the second time that Raga will compete in the World Championship event for the Venezuelan national team.Â
Â
The women's portion of the tournament will consist of four rounds of play for the Espirito Santo Trophy. Competitors will play a round of golf each day from Wednesday-Saturday, Aug. 29 to Sept. 1. First round action will get underway on Wednesday, Aug. 29 and Raga is set to tee off at 9:35 a.m. in Ireland (2:35 a.m. MT). In her opening group, she will play with France's Pauline Roussin-Bouchard and Czech Republic's Hana Ryskova.Â
